More or less by chance Chris started his second career as a singer. He had written a song for Sandie Shaw, that she turned down. Chris believed in his composition and so BILL WYMAN from the Rolling Stones convinced Chris to record the song himself. So Chris went in the studio and paid himself for the production, the result was the mega-seller "YESTERDAY MAN", a song that belongs to the most played and most populars songs of the sixties. Worldwide were sold over 10 million copies. If you add all the hundreds and hundreds of compilations over the last 40 years, he sure reached the 100 millions. His second Nr. 1 - Hit on the continent was "TO WHOM IT CONCERNS" and then Chris started touring all over Europe.
"SOMETHING ON MY MIND", "STOP THAT GIRL" and "WATCHA GONNA DO NOW" followed. The next milestone in his singer-songwriter-career started in 1969/70 with "PRETTY BELINDA", a number 1-hit in Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Spain and dozens of other countries all over the world. Lots of other artists recorded that song in their language and had as well Nr.1-hits with it.
